Happy New Year! We are looking forward to a healthy and safe 2009! We are hopeful that the economy will provide each of us with a new sense of certainty.

We would like to welcome previous RainStar clients to our center. With the sudden closure of RainStar College and Therapy Center last year, we are fortunate in receiving a positive response from many of you who have elected to continue receiving services from us at a-z Therapy Center. We hope that you will take advantage of the many offerings that we provide.

a-z Therapy Center is introducing a “New Year, New You” campaign designed to support your needs and your overall health. Each month a new service will be introduced and a current service will be discounted for the month. Watch for the discount coupon that will be hidden in the monthly newsletter and save on your next treatment.

Here’s some exciting updates: We have enhanced our basic massage services to include an additional 5 minutes, providing you will a full 60 or 90 minutes of hands on massage. For the month of January, we are offering complimentary acupuncture consultations. This will be a 15 minute consultation with a licensed acupuncturist. If you choose to schedule an overall medical assessment and treatment following your consultation, the cost would then be provided at a 50% discount. How to Use Ancient Techniques to Reduce Modern-Day Stress
Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine can provide safe, effective and drug-free alternatives for the treatment of stress. Acupuncturists have been helping people cope with stress for thousands of years. Their job is to support and restore the integrity of the various organs affected and depleted by the body’s stress response, along with evaluating the quality and quantity of the Qi, (Otherwise known as the vital energy or power that supports the functions of the body.)

The Qi flows through specific pathways and provides nourishment for the entire body. When the Qi becomes blocked or the supply is inadequate, the body and organ systems become stressed and our health is compromised. Chinese medicine addresses the root causes associated with stress by first recognizing and then restoring the blocked areas. One of the most common ways that stress affects the body is through depletion or blockage of Qi in the Kidneys and Adrenals, which overtime can become detrimental to our health. Acupuncture is a great source in restoring our natural energy and bringing the body back into a healthy balance.

I hope you’ll take advantage of our complimentary 15 minute consultation this month.

Acupuncture for Weight Loss
Many people are turning to acupuncture as a natural and effective way to approach losing weight.

Because Traditional Chinese Medicine works to restore the balance and flow of the body’s Qi (vital energy source). The acupuncturist is trained to uncover the root cause or imbalances that can affect your weight gain. For example: restoring the flow of Qi in the stomach to promote good digestion and suppress an overactive appetite. Other issues caused by anxiety and stress, both of which can lead to overeating can be addressed by balancing the liver.

They will also take into consideration your lifestyle, emotional and mental well-being. The treatment they provide will focus on correcting the underlying imbalances within your body, which will support your weight loss goals.

Try acupuncture as an additional path in supporting a happier and leaner you.

Stella Speaks

Being Thankful and Playful in 2009

My owner shared this National Geographic story by Jeanne E. Peters, and it gave me paws... to remember how grateful many of us in the animal world are.

Dogs guard our homes, herd our stock, hunt the fox, entertain and adore us, but not most dogs. The vast majority wander the streets and back alleys of villages and towns around the world, scavenging human garbage just as they did thousands of years ago. According to Raymond and Lorna Coppinger’s book, Dogs, there are perhaps 400 million of man’s best friend in the world, yet the Coppingers estimate that only a quarter of those dogs are our companions, allowed a place by the fire or on the couch.

Share the love and give your pets a hug today.
